Welcome back to the 2020 school year!
I am so happy to be back in the building and seeing all of our amazing students! School looks a little different this year as we are wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from each other, but we are already working hard and learning. I find it hard to believe, but I am entering my 15th year of work here at St Germaine and couldn't be happier!
Some background information about me. I completed a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Western Michigan University in 1992. After college I began working with kids, mostly teenagers, in several non-profit human service organizations and that is where I found a love for working with children. I did eventually return to school to work on a graduate degree, and in 2000 I completed a Master's in Social Work with an emphasis on individual and group therapy. When I am not at St. Germaine you will find me at home with my husband, David, my kids, Erik and Madelyn, Ireland the cat, and our dog, Buster. Occasionally I am blessed with a visit from my 27 year old step-son, Jarred, who is loving his adult life.
One of my favorite things I get to do here at St. Germaine is to teach in the classrooms. I cover multiple topics including; character building, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and substance abuse awareness and the influences of peer pressure. When not in a classroom you can find me meeting with individual students, consulting with my co-workers, or just plain hanging out with kids while they eat lunch. You can find me here at the school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I welcome anyone to contact me with any concerns or questions via email at [email protected] or call me here at the school.
Regards,
"Miss Katie"
